is SAMIC

What

We are an instrument of diakonia, protection, care and accompaniment for couples in serious crisis situations and broken families.

This Service was created by the Cardinal Archbishop D. Antonio Cañizares to serve the whole Archdiocese of Valencia. We are currently located at the headquarters of the Metropolitan Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Valencia.

We use mediation in the fields of law, psychology and theology as the main legal instrument to assist marriages in crisis.

SERVICES WE OFFER

ACCOMPANIMENT

  • Spiritual: where we deal with difficulties or problems of a moral nature caused by the crisis or breakdown of a marriage.
  • Legal: where a professional lawyer, with accredited conciliatory character, attends to doubts of a legal nature.
  • Psychological: where we help users when intense emotional discomfort is detected, or family relationship difficulties derived from the break-up. In addition, we have a specific section aimed mainly at dealing with the problems of children arising from marital crises or break-ups, with experts in this field.

CANONICAL FAMILY MEDIATION

It is a voluntary, confidential and impartial process, in which, through an accredited mediator, the people involved try to reach agreements to solve their conflict. At all times we assume that the family is never broken, we try to improve the relationship and communication of its members. We especially use this service in those cases in which the spouses are immersed in a process of rupture to try to achieve, in the first place and if possible, a peaceful reconciliation, and in any case, to use it to benefit also the children of these couples, trying to reach agreements.

WE DO

What

Help families who are in pain because of:

– How their break-up, separation process or marriage annulment has unfolded.

– Feelings of deceit or disappointment about the other party.

– Feelings of failure or guilt about the truncated life project.

– Isolation from the Christian community or the reception of sacraments.

– Family conflict on issues related to the education or upbringing of common children.

The people we serve are in conflict and have approached us for help in achieving reconciliation or requesting information in the process of canonical marriage annulment or other family processes.

OUR GOAL

To care for, accompany and support the faithful in their pain in this time of difficulty. In addition, we encourage agreements and solutions that mediate between opposing parties, helping, if possible, to achieve reconciliation and to generate an accompaniment that promotes family cohesion.

METHODOLOGY OF WORK

WITH CHRISTIAN HOPE

Trying to transmit to families in conflict and/or crisis, the confidence that they are being cared for by the Church, which is Mother and helps her children in a special way in these moments of difficulty.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH

We are a team of professionals specialized in family conflicts: psychologists, lawyers, mediators, priests, doctors, who act together in response to the request that is made of us. We share the problems and refer to the specialists needed, carrying out an exhaustive follow-up of the different cases until they are completed.

SPEEDY ATTENTION

We act as quickly and efficiently as possible, assessing each case individually.

COLLABORATION WITH THE DIOCESAN FAMILY MINISTRY

We aim to be an additional instrument to help the actions carried out within our Diocese in relation to family crises.

Our extensive experience in intervening in this type of conflict can help the pastoral agents in each particular Church to anticipate and prevent break-ups by providing the appropriate means so that these situations do not recur in the future.

EXPERT COURSE
IN ACCOMPANIMENT AND MEDIATION

The Accompaniment and Canonical Mediation Service of the Archdiocese of Valencia has been providing the Expert Course in Accompaniment and Mediation for several years. This training has become a national reference and more and more Spanish Dioceses are incorporating agents of pastoral action with families, including professionals from the Ecclesiastical Courts, into this training.

In its fifth edition, the course, which takes place online, was attended by 75 pastoral workers, married couples and professionals from 12 Spanish dioceses.

It is a course aimed at people who, because of their concerns, profession or vocation of service, want to help families who come to the Ecclesiastical Courts or family pastoral services of the bishoprics of Spain. The training enables them to attend to marriages and families in conflict, with or without children, with the tools of mediation and accompaniment.

If you are interested in participating in the next training course, you can apply for registration at the following email address: samic@archivalencia.es

actualidad
